PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The West Java Provincial Government through the Education Office canceled the graduation of 31 students or prospective students (CPD) in the 2024 New Student Registration (PPDB) because they violated domicile regulations.
The 31 students whose graduation was disallowed were CPD who registered at SMAN 3 Bandung (25 CPD) and SMAN 5 Bandung (6 CPD).
The field verification team found that 31 students or parents did not live at the address according to their family card, so this violated Governor Regulation Number 9 of 2024.
Based on the Governor's Regulation which is confirmed by a Letter of Absolute Responsibility (SPTJM) signed by CPD's parents as well as the Ombudsman letter Number T/237/LM.21-12/VI/2024 dated 13 June 2024 regarding Findings and Suggestions for Implementing PPDB West Java Phase 1 , then the Teachers' Council meeting decides that the status of being accepted for the CPD in question is disqualified to not being accepted.
PPDB Stage 1/Zoning quotas affected by changes in CPD status are delegated to the PPDB Stage 2 Report Card Achievement Track.
Acting Governor of West Java Bey Machmudin emphasized that his party is very serious about enforcing the rules in PPDB 2024. Even though it has been declared passed but it is proven that there are violations, his party can still annul the decision.
"The point is that we are serious about this PPDB. Even though we have announced the graduation, we can still annul it if it is proven that there are violations including domicile violations. Today it had to be annulled because it was found that fraud did not live there," said Bey Machmudin when met at the West Java DPRD office, Jalan Diponegoro , Bandung City, Monday (24/6/2024).
After the cancellation of this graduation, the Education Department will coordinate with the Population and Civil Registry Service so that a similar incident does not happen again. The public is also asked to obey the applicable PPDB regulations and not try to get around them.
"What is certain is that it will be annulled first. After that, we will coordinate with the Dukcapil Office on how to ensure that it doesn't happen again. People also shouldn't cheat if they don't live there, so don't create a KK there," said Bey.
Bey explained that the rules regarding zoning are to calculate the distance from school to house in a straight line. So even though the route from home to school has to go through a circular road, it will still be considered closer because a straight line is drawn.
"There are parents who feel that their house is close, but there are others that are even closer. We really take into account the zoning regulations and they don't count the turns but the straight line from the school to the house, so even though the house is next to each other, it turns around because there is no fixed road he is closer because he drew a straight line," he explained.
Responding to the PPDB domicile violation that occurred at his favorite school, Bey said he would report it to the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology as the zoning system policy maker.
The zoning system aims to equalize schools and change the paradigm of favorite schools.
"We will report everything to the Ministry of Education and Culture because this (zoning system) is a decision from the Central Government. Actually, the purpose of zoning is to equalize schools, but it turns out that the favorite school paradigm still exists, so parents still want their children to go to favorite schools," said Bey .
