PORTALJABAR, BEKASI REGENCY - The Bekasi Regency Government distributed 350 BPJS Employment cards to social workers to protect them while on duty.

The symbolic handover took place at Mitra Keluarga Deltamas Hospital, Cikarang Pusat District, 29/9/2026, as work accident protection.

Head of the Poverty Handling Division of the Bekasi Regency Social Service, Nurlela, said that this guarantee provides a sense of security for social workers.

"The benefit of BPJS Ketenagakerjaan assistance for community social workers is that it provides occupational accident insurance. The goal is to enable social workers to perform better and more optimally," Nurlela told bekasikab.go.id on September 30, 2026.

This protection is important because social workers actively collect data and reach out to the community's social welfare needs.

"If social workers experience an accident while carrying out their work, they will receive assistance or compensation from BPJS Employment," he said.

The protection program is implemented through the Bekasi Regency Social Service together with BPJS Employment and support from corporate social responsibility.

"For the initial stage, CSR assistance from Mitra Keluarga Deltamas and Mitra Keluarga Cikarang was given to 350 social workers," he explained.

A total of 30 recipients are social workers from the Disaster Preparedness Cadets (Tagana), while the other 320 are Community Social Workers (PSM).

"The plan is to officially launch the compensation program on October 6 at Mitra Keluarga Hospital in Cikarang," he said.

Nurlela explained that the protection covers accidents at work, travel, and community data collection in the Bekasi Regency area.

"So, if an accident occurs while they are working, whether in the field, on the road, or while collecting data on the community in Bekasi Regency, there is protection in the form of compensation," he said.

The initial program has only reached 350 of the approximately 500 PSMs working in Bekasi Regency.

"Going forward, thankfully, based on our discussions with BPJS Ketenagakerjaan, we will also receive CSR assistance from several companies and hospitals for social workers who have not yet received coverage," he said.

The expansion of participation is aimed at providing broader protection to volunteers who assist with community social services.

"We hope that this assistance from BPJS Ketenagakerjaan will have a positive impact and motivate our volunteers to work more optimally," he concluded.
