PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The Bandung City Housing and Settlement Agency (DPKP) is intensifying tree pruning on several roads. This is to minimize the number of fallen trees due to heavy rain and wind that have often occurred in Bandung City in recent days.
According to the Head of DPKP Bandung City, Rizki Kusrulyadi, pruning is an effort to mitigate disasters. Not only pruning, DKPP Bandung City officers also check the condition of the trees. Especially trees that are decades old.
"We continue to mitigate fallen trees. This week, 12 fallen trees and 7 broken branches were recorded. This condition often occurs in the Karees area, such as Jalan Martanegara, Buahbatu and its surroundings," said Rizki.
According to him, it is quite difficult to predict the tree. However, it is visible to the naked eye and the strength of the tree from the roots can be handled whether the tree is strong or not.
"It is indeed unpredictable, if you physically examine the tree above the ground surface between the roots and it is already fragile," he said.
Responding to this, Bandung Mayor Muhammad Farhan said that officers in the field should diligently carry out regular tree maintenance.
"We must diligently treat trees to prevent them from falling," he stressed.
If a tree falls or other incident occurs, residents who need help can contact the 112 call center, which is part of the official emergency account.
Call center 112 is present as part of an effort to improve response and coordination in handling emergencies in the Bandung City area. (Bandung City Communication and Information Service/rka)
