PORTALJABAR, GARUT REGENCY - Garut Regent Abdusy Syakur Amin attended the 3rd Regional Working Conference (Muskerda) of the Regional Leadership (PD) of the Islamic Association (Persis) of Garut Regency at the IAI Persis Garut Auditorium, Saturday (19/9/2026).

Syakur appreciated Persis's contribution to the advancement of society and invited the organization to strengthen its support for the government's social security programs.

Syakur explained that of the 2.948 million residents of Garut Regency, nearly 1.8 million people fall into the decile 1–5 category, or low-income to vulnerable communities.

"This is the story. That's where the government provides assistance to those deemed unable to afford BPJS Health services. The central government has nearly 1.1 million people covered by BPJS Health, and the Garut Regency government has approximately 550,000 people who must be covered by BPJS Health. This means there are still people who haven't been paid. Therefore, we ask for support and collaboration from Persis," said Abdusy Syakur Amin.

In addition to BPJS Health, Syakur encouraged institutions under the auspices of Persis to register their members with BPJS Employment.

According to him, the program has a premium of around IDR 8,400 per month and provides protection through five guarantees for workers.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of PD Persis Garut, Gun Gun Abdul Basit, said that the Persis structure in Garut Regency continues to develop.

Of the 42 sub-districts in Garut Regency, Persis Branch Leadership (PC) has now been formed in 36 sub-districts.

"So, the six sub-districts that do not yet have a PC Persis are Limbangan, Singajaya, Mekarmukti, Cigedug, Cihurip, and Cisewu. God willing, a PC Persis Cisewu will be formed in the near future," he explained.

Gun Gun explained that the leadership period in the Persis organizational tradition is interpreted as a 'jihad period' based on the Al-Quran, Surah Al-Ankabut, Verse 6.

"Whoever fights jihad, his jihad is actually for himself. So the goodness, the benefits are not for other people but return to himself," he added.

Chairman of the 3rd Muskerda Committee, Uud Suhendrik, expressed his gratitude for the participation and cooperation of all parties in the activity.

He hopes that the results of the working meeting can strengthen the spread of Islamic preaching and provide real benefits for the wider community.

The activity with the theme "Optimizing the Persisi Jihad Movement in Building a Devout and Sustainable Garut" was attended by 150 participants from the Advisory Board, Tasqih, staff, and the autonomous body of Persis Garut.
