PORTALJABAR, GARUT REGENCY - The Garut Regency Government is encouraging the use of artificial intelligence to support public services through synergy with the Garut Institute of Technology (ITG).

Garut Regent Abdusy Syakur Amin conveyed this when attending the inauguration of the ITG Rector for the 2026–2031 period at the Al Musaddadiyah Ballroom, 22/8/2026.

Abdusy Syakur Amin appreciated the Al Musaddadiyah Foundation for its consistent contribution to regional development through the education sector.

According to him, ITG has a strategic role in providing technology that helps the government complete public work more effectively.

"Thank God, we have received this honor. Many ITG alumni have served in the Garut Regency Government," said Abdusy Syakur Amin.

He hopes that the leadership of the Chancellor for the 2026–2031 period will further expand the contribution of higher education institutions to the development needs of Garut Regency.

ITG Chancellor Hilmi Aulawi said his leadership is a great mandate to bring ITG to face technological changes and societal needs.

Hilmi highlighted the development of artificial intelligence (AI) which has transformed various fields and given rise to new types of jobs.

These changes require students to learn more personally, flexibly, contextually, and directly relate to real societal problems.

"Therefore, we must be able to utilize AI as a plus in the transformation of learning, research, academic services, decision-making, and innovation while maintaining academic integrity, ethics, and humanitarian values," Hilmi emphasized.

Hilmi said that universities are now developing from teaching universities to research universities, entrepreneurial universities, and even impactful universities.

These changes encourage ITG to produce knowledge and innovation that does not stop within the campus environment, but has a real impact on society.

"Therefore, ITG must remain superior in learning, productive in research, capable of generating innovation and entrepreneurship, while ensuring that all the knowledge produced can have a real impact," he concluded.

The synergy between the Garut Regency Government and ITG is expected to expand the use of technology and produce innovations that help meet regional development needs.
