PORTALJABAR, BOGOR CITY - The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) and Commission VIII of the Indonesian House of Representatives provided a number of assistance for logistical support and emergency disaster response equipment in Bogor City.
The assistance was received directly by the Mayor of Bogor, Dedie A. Rachim, which was handed over directly by the Deputy for Systems and Strategy of BNPB, Raditya Jati, at Bogor City Hall, Wednesday (5/3/2025) afternoon.
The assistance included cash worth IDR 150 million and several items such as 3 chainsaws, 100 tarpaulins, 2 4x4 tents, 100 blanket packages, 250 ready-to-eat food packages, 2 portable lamps, 2 rubber boats, and 100 mattress packages.
Dedie A. Rachim expressed his gratitude and appreciation to BNPB and Commission VIII of the Indonesian House of Representatives for providing the assistance. The assistance can later be used directly for disaster management in Bogor City.
"Bogor experiences around 1,000 disasters every year, most of which are caused by rain. This time the rain occurred in the upper reaches of the Ciliwung River. There are two crucial locations, namely the landslide that claimed the lives of toddlers and the landslide in Batutulis," explained Dedie A. Rachim.
Specifically for the landslide in Batutulis, Dedie continued, the road is one of the economic arteries for residents in South Bogor. Therefore, with this disaster, the Bogor City Government has prepared various alternatives.
"We also ask for help from BNPB because the Batutulis area is included in the national strategic project with the construction of a double track. Repairs may take quite a long time," he said.
In the same place, the Deputy for Systems and Strategy of BNPB, Raditya Jati, said that this assistance was a direct instruction from
Head of BNPB for Bogor City.
"Coupled with BMKG's prediction that the Jabodetabek area will experience extreme weather, we cannot remain silent. The local government must pay attention and implement steps related to handling," explained Raditya.
The provision of this assistance, continued Raditya, is a form of support from BNPB in emergency situations as well as to reduce the burden on local governments, including in the socialization of disaster mitigation in areas that are potentially affected.
"This assistance can be a form of our commitment in disaster prevention efforts. We are ready to help again if support is needed. However, we must also increase our vigilance," concluded Raditya. (Public Relations of Bogor City Government/rka)
