PORTALJABAR, BEKASI REGENCY - The Bekasi Regency Government is committed to supporting the acceleration of flood control and land acquisition along the Bekasi-Cikeas-Cileungsi River.
This support was conveyed in a coordination meeting with the Directorate of Water Resources of the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) and the West Java Provincial Government in Jakarta (19/3/2025).
The meeting was led by the Director General of Water Resources of the Ministry of PUPR, Lilik Retno Cahyadiningsih, and attended by the Regional Secretary of West Java Province, Herman Suryarman, and related regional government officials.
Regional Secretary of Bekasi Regency, Dedy Supriyadi, emphasized that the Bekasi Regency Government is ready to coordinate in accelerating river normalization and land acquisition for residents on river banks as part of more effective flood control efforts.
"We are committed to supporting the acceleration of the handling of the Bekasi River revitalization. If land acquisition is needed, we are ready to coordinate in accordance with the established projects, especially in the Babelan and North Tambun areas," he said.
Dedy said that the PUPR Ministry has been running this project since 2020, with a land inventory updated until 2023. The Bekasi Regency Government is also ready to allocate regional budgets as needed to ensure the smooth running of the project.
"If land acquisition is needed for this activity, Bekasi Regency is included in the development activities of packages 6 and 7 from the PUPR Ministry, in Babelan and Tambun Utara Districts. We hope that this acceleration can be realized immediately without any obstacles in the Bekasi Regency area," he explained.
In addition to river normalization, the Bekasi District Government will also clean up illegal buildings that obstruct water flow, especially in the Sukawangi, Babelan, and Tambun Utara Districts.
A circular has been prepared to instruct Satpol PP, sub-district heads, village heads, and RT and RW to carry out the clean-up.
"We prioritize a persuasive approach so that the community is aware and willing to dismantle buildings independently, based on Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) through warning letters one to three before the illegal building is cleared," added Dedy.
In addition to the river normalization project carried out by the central government, the Bekasi Regency Government will also oversee the construction of dams and more than 111 other revitalization activities. The regional government emphasized that all processes must be carried out professionally and transparently, without the involvement of individuals who could hinder the project.
