PORTALJABAR, BEKASI REGENCY - The Bekasi Regency Government (Pemdakab) is taking various acceleration steps in efforts to rehabilitate flood-affected areas in the northern part of Bekasi Regency. Including repairing the embankment currently being worked on by the Water Resources, Highways, and Construction Agency (SDABMBK).
"We went directly to ensure that the rehabilitation process is running according to plan and see what needs to be followed up immediately. The broken embankment must be repaired immediately so that a similar incident does not happen again," said Bekasi Regency Regional Secretary, Dedy Supriyadi while reviewing the flood-affected area in Buni Bakti Village, Babelan District, on Monday (10/3/2025).
During the visit, Regional Secretary Dedy Supriyadi was accompanied by the Chairman of the Bekasi Regency DPRD, Ade Sukron and the Head of BPBD, Muchlis and elements of the Babelan District Muspika.
In addition to repairing the embankment, the Bekasi District Government has also prepared a number of strategic steps in an effort to mitigate future flooding. Dedy explained that these steps include normalizing rivers with high sedimentation levels, controlling illegal buildings standing on water channels, and installing permanent sheet piles at landslide-prone points.
"The government must be present and act quickly so that the impact on the community can be minimized. We also appreciate all parties who have contributed, both companies, state civil servants (ASN), and the community who work together. The local government has formed a Liaison Officer (LO) in each sub-district to monitor and provide direct assistance," he added.
Dedi emphasized that the local government will immediately make necessary infrastructure improvements, including steps that are the focus of President Prabowo Subianto. He emphasized that flood mitigation efforts will be carried out sustainably in the short and long term.
"Greetings from the Regent. We urge the public to remain calm and vigilant. For housing, prepare water polders, and we must be ready to face the possibility of further flooding. The Bekasi Regency Government continues to coordinate with various parties to anticipate all possibilities that may occur," he concluded.
With ongoing rehabilitation efforts and synergy between local governments, communities, and various related parties, it is hoped that the impact of the flood can be minimized significantly. Although challenges still exist, the government's commitment to handling this disaster is a hope for the community so that similar incidents will not have a greater impact in the future.
