PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The Bekasi District Government fully supports the acceleration of the implementation of blockchain technology initiated by the West Java Provincial Government through the Communication and Informatics Service (Diskominfo).

This activity supports
initiative strategies such as smart cities, e-Government, and personal data protection.

This was stated by the Acting Regional Secretary (Sekda) of Bekasi Regency, Jaoharul Alam, when attending the Local Government Blockchain Forum & Festival 2024, at the Grand Ballroom of the Pullman Hotel, Bandung City, on Wednesday (6/11/2024).

The Acting Regional Secretary explained that amidst the rapid development of technology, blockchain-based innovation can support the creation of more modern, transparent, and effective governance.

"Blockchain is an alternative system to protect our personal data, of course it is very beneficial, especially for local governments in protecting and securing government data," he said.

With the transparency, efficiency and data security it offers, blockchain will be a critical pillar in digital transformation efforts. And has great potential to transform various sectors including government, finance and public services.

"If we have used the blockchain system, the data remains transparent but very secure. So we plan to implement this technology," he explained.

He explained that the blockchain-based technology initiative is planned to be implemented in the Bekasi Regency Government environment through Diskominfosantik. In order to secure data, especially employee data.

"We are adjusting the use of this blockchain, if in Bekasi Regency of course through Diskominfosantik to secure it, especially employee data," he added.

Meanwhile, the Head of the ICT Division of the Bekasi Regency Communication and Information Service, Bahrul Ulum, said that the use of blockchain has been included in the architecture of the Electronic-Based Government System (SPBE).

To realize this, strong efforts and support from various stakeholders are needed to utilize its potential.

"The use of blockchain has entered SPBE Bekasi Regency, and this requires strong support from stakeholders to transition to digital transformation," he said.

Bahrul explained that through the blockchain method in securing data, especially in the local government environment, data leaks can be anticipated.

"Through this blockchain, we are able to anticipate data leaks, thus becoming a safe data security solution," he said.

He emphasized that the application of blockchain in the government sector is a relevant topic along with the development of digital technology and the issue of personal data protection.

Blockchain is a tool that has the potential to bring about major changes in the government sector to achieve greater transparency, efficiency and security.

The 2024 Local Government Blockchain Forum & Festival was opened by the Acting Governor of West Java, the Regional Secretary of West Java Province, the Head of the West Java Provincial Communication and Information Service, Regional Secretaries, and Regional Assistants throughout West Java.
