PORTALJABAR, DISTRICT. BOGOR - The Bogor District Government (Pemdakab) appreciates all parties who play an active role in preserving water resources.

This was conveyed by the Regent's Expert Staff for Economics and Development, Deni Humaedi, when representing the Acting Regent of Bogor at the commemoration of the 32nd World Water Day at the West Java Province level, in Setu Kemang, Bogor Regency, Thursday (2/5/2024).

"On behalf of the Bogor Regency Government, we appreciate and express our deepest gratitude to all parties who have contributed to environmental conservation efforts, especially water resources in Bogor Regency," he said.

He added that commemorating World Water Day every year is an effort to increase public awareness of the increasingly scarce availability of clean water and the urgency to preserve it.

He said, in line with the theme of this year's World Water Day, namely "Water for Peace", let's make this World Water Day a momentum to strengthen synergy in joint efforts to create a sustainable environment.

"Avoid conflict and build collaboration and harmony in the management and utilization of water resources both locally, across regions and at the global level, for shared prosperity," he said.

Deni explained that various efforts were made by the Bogor District Government to preserve the environment and water resources. Among other things, through handling cases of waste pollution to the environment, procuring seeds, planting trees or reforestation, reforestation and implementing the Zero Delta Q Policy in housing, establishing Environmentally Friendly Villages and so on.

Acting Governor of West Java Bey Machmudin said that the theme of commemorating Water Day this year is very relevant to answering today's global challenges. The momentum of water day is important to increase public awareness and understanding of the importance of water as a source of life.

"Thank you and appreciate the dedication of the Water Gate Guards (PPA) and Dam Operations Officers (POB) who have a vital role in maintaining the dam as infrastructure for providing clean water, supporting agriculture, controlling floods, providing electrical energy and tourism functions," said Bey.

Bey invites us to strengthen synergy and collaboration between all stakeholders, by increasing our active role in protecting water resources as a source of life.

Head of the West Java Province Water Resources Service, Dikky Achmad Sidiq, explained that the theme of this year's World Water Day commemoration is water for peace. This is because water as a source of life of course has the function of maintaining balance and creating peace. Then water as a source of life can also create world peace.

"Today's activities are combined with tree planting, fish seed distribution, river cleaning, a public campaign about World Water Day, as well as workshops with PPA and POB in the West Java region in collaboration with various parties," he said.

Dikky continued, the PPA and POB on this occasion received direction from the Acting Governor of West Java to increase enthusiasm and motivation in guarding floodgates in the West Java region.

Also present were the Head of the Ciliwung Cisadane River Basin Center (BBWS), the Head of the West Java Province Water Resources (SDA) Service, Bogor Regency Forkopimda, West Java provincial government officials, Bogor Regency, Bogor City, Depok City and Bekasi City, the Guards Water Gate (PPA) and Dam Operations Officer (POB).
