PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The West Java Provincial Government (Pemdaprov Jabar) has written off all motor vehicle tax arrears, both two-wheeled and four-wheeled, for people who have not yet paid their obligations.

West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi said that this policy applies to vehicle tax arrears up to 2024 and beyond, without a limit on the number of years.

This program exempts principal arrears and motor vehicle tax fines for the public and business entities that own or control motor vehicles in the jurisdiction of the West Java Regional Police and the Metro Jaya Regional Police.

KDM - Dedi Mulyadi's nickname - explained that the public is given the opportunity to extend the validity period of their vehicle tax from March 20 - June 6, 2025, by only paying the current year's tax without having to pay off previous arrears.

"We, the West Java Provincial Government, forgive all arrears in motor vehicle tax payments, but after Eid, we ask that it be extended," said Dedi Mulyadi, Tuesday (18/3/2025).

Dedi reminded that vehicle tax has an important role in infrastructure development, including road repairs. Therefore, he emphasized that after the arrears write-off period ends, vehicles that have not paid taxes will not be allowed to pass on the highway, both at the city/district level and provincial roads.

"Later, those who do not pay taxes even though we have given them the opportunity to correct their mistakes, will no longer be able to pass through district roads or provincial roads without taxes," he concluded.

Meanwhile, the Head of the West Java Regional Revenue Agency (Bapenda), Dedi Taufik, said that this policy aims to increase public compliance in paying taxes and regulate vehicle ownership data.

In addition, this program is supported by various digital services such as E-Samsat, the Sambara application through the Jabar Apps Sapawarga, as well as the Mobile Samsat, Village Samsat, Leuwipanjang Digital Samsat, Samsat Outlet, Samsat Gendong, Samsat Drive Thru, and BUMDes services.

"Through this policy, we hope that public compliance will increase and there will be no more vehicles with outstanding tax status," said Dedi Taufik.

"In addition, people who own vehicles not in their own name are urged to immediately take care of the vehicle transfer fee (BBNKB), which has been made free. However, TNKB, STNK, and BPKB fees are still charged according to applicable regulations," said Dedi Taufik.

With this policy, it is hoped that the public can take advantage of the opportunity to eliminate motor vehicle tax arrears and contribute to regional development through timely tax payments.
