PORTALJABAR, BEKASI REGENCY - The Bekasi Regency Government helped 41 couples obtain legal certainty through the Integrated Marriage Confirmation Session (14/8/2026).

The activity in the framework of the 76th Anniversary of Bekasi Regency took place at the People's Hall of the Bekasi Regency DPRD Building.

Bekasi Regency Regional Assistant I Hudaya said the program helps couples who are married religiously but have not yet been registered by the state.

"Alhamdulillah, the public can experience many benefits from this marriage confirmation process. One of them is fulfilling administrative requirements, as every citizen must comply with applicable regulations," said Hudaya.

According to him, marriage registration for Muslims is carried out through the Office of Religious Affairs (KUA) in accordance with statutory regulations.

Unregistered marriages can cause population administration problems, including with Family Cards and children's birth certificates.

"Many people are legally married, but the state doesn't recognize it because it hasn't been registered. The impact can be seen on documents like Family Cards and birth certificates," he explained.

Through this integrated trial, couples who meet the requirements can obtain legal certainty and marriage documents through government facilitation.

Hudaya urged the public to register marriages early to ensure that family and child rights are administratively protected.

"In fact, Islamic marriages conducted at the KUA (Religious Affairs Office) are free if they take place at the KUA office. Therefore, we urge all members of the public to comply with administrative procedures and ensure their marriages are officially registered with the state," he stressed.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Bekasi Regency Population and Civil Registration Service, Carwinda, said that the isbat hearing was an effort to resolve unregistered marriages.

"This type of activity will be the last. We want all Bekasi Regency residents to conduct weddings in accordance with statutory provisions. Marriages are not only valid according to religion and belief, but must also be registered with the state," he stressed.

Carwinda said that the issue of marriage registration could impact population administration and the fulfillment of children's rights.

"Don't let our children follow their parents' administrative problems. After a religious marriage, immediately complete the registration so that the marriage is registered with the state. This is crucial for ensuring the administrative security of the family and children," he said.

In this year's implementation, around 60 couples submitted applications and 41 couples were declared to have met the requirements after verification by the Religious Court.

"Of the more than 60 couples who applied, after verification by the Religious Court, 41 couples met the requirements. Hopefully, the entire isbat process today will run smoothly and provide legal certainty for the community," he explained.

Carwinda emphasized that the decision on the application remains the authority of the panel of judges after the participants have attended all stages of the trial.

"Whether the petition is granted or not is entirely up to the panel of judges. Participants must attend the trial and comply with the requirements, including presenting witnesses who can convince the panel of judges," he concluded.
