PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The Bandung City Government (Pemkot) will trial the Jalan Lengkong Kecil area as a nighttime culinary area with the theme Lengkong Kecil Culinary Night. The trial will start on Saturday (8/6/2024) at 18.00-23.59 WIB.

The presence of Lengkong Kecil Culinary Night is projected to take place every weekend and national holidays. This is also an effort by the Bandung City Government to organize the Jalan Lengkong Kecil area.

In his presentation at the Coordination Meeting for the Arrangement of Street Vendors in the Lengkong Kecil Area, Friday (7/6/2024), Acting Head of the Bandung City Cooperative and UMKM Service (Diskop UMKM), Dodi Ridwansyah, said that a number of aspects were prepared during the Lengkong Culinary Night trial, including: :

- Road Engineering
During the Lengkong Culinary Night, road engineering will be carried out along Lengkong Kecil. Later, vehicles will be allowed to pass in one direction, from Jalan Lengkong Besar to Jalan Karapitan.

Diskop UKM has also coordinated with the Department of Transportation (Dishub) and Bandung Police regarding road engineering which will later be implemented.

"Only during Lengkong Culinary Night. Outside of that, traffic flows normally as usual," he said.

- Lengkong Culinary Night Operational Regulations

Dodi said that the UKM Diskop had also coordinated with a number of regional officials to enforce regulations during the Lengkong Culinary Night.

First, the position of the street vendor's tent, which usually faces the road, will later be turned and face the sidewalk. There are also sidewalks along Jalan Lengkong Kecil that will be used as pedestrian areas, or places to walk.

Then, the water barriers that have been placed in the road area will be replaced by traffic cones as road dividers with street vendor tents.

Furthermore, visitors to Lengkong Culinary Night are not allowed to buy food or drinks from vehicles. On the other hand, the UKM Diskop together with the Transportation Agency and Polrestabes are coordinating regarding additional parking pockets for visitors.

- Waste management

Dodi also said that the UKM Diskop would collaborate with the Bandung City Environmental Service (DLH) and also the community around the culinary area in managing waste in the Lengkong Culinary Night area. In the future, every street vendor who sells will be required to separate the waste and hand over the organic waste to be processed by the regional administrator.

- Comfort and Order Aspects
Furthermore, Diskop UKM will also collaborate with the Social Service (Dinsos), Diskar PB Bandung City, DSDABM Bandung City, and DPKP Bandung City regarding efforts to realize aspects of security and order in the Lengkong Culinary Night area.

"On Saturday, the sidewalk area on Jalan Lengkong Kecil will be watered and we will clean it together. This is a collaboration between Diskar PB Bandung City and DSDABM Bandung City. Then DPKP will help rearrange the trees on the sidewalk in the area," he said .

"Furthermore, Social Services will also help regulate PPKS in the Lengkong Culinary Night area. So that the comfort of visitors is not disturbed," he said.

Acting Mayor of Bandung Bambang Tirtoyuliono instructed that the Lengkong Culinary Night trial must prioritize the aspect of dialogue with the local community. Bambang said that the event which is a symbol of the arrangement of street vendors in this area must be a source of pride for all, not just the government.

"Community based is important. Involve the role of residents/society. Communication with them is important. So that the sense of belonging is more even. This must be done together," he said.

Apart from that, he asked all parties to really understand the existing regulations. So the aim of Lengkong Culinary Night is to organize street vendors in the Jalan Lengkong Besar area without causing negative potential in the future.

"The Bandung City Government is facilitating Jalan Lengkong Kecil to be allowed to become a culinary night area. This must be a joint plan. Please pay attention to the rules," he said.
