PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The atmosphere at Bandung City Hall on Monday morning, (14/4/2025) felt different with the presence of the energy of love and empathy filling the courtyard.

The strains of music from local artists and Melly Goeslaw's melodious voice singing the song Bunda accompanied the emotional atmosphere.

Small tears were heard when the song verse touched on gratitude and love for the most noble figure, namely the mother.

In the midst of this atmosphere, the Bandung City Government (Pemkot) launched the Bandung Nyaah Ka Indung program.

The Mayor of Bandung, Muhammad Farhan, led the launch directly, which is a collaboration to improve the welfare of vulnerable groups, especially elderly women.
This program is a follow-up to the agreement of regional heads throughout West Java led by the Governor of West Java on (7/4/2024).

"Alhamdulillah, this morning we successfully launched the Nyaah Ka Indung program as a form of collaboration involving not only state civil servants (ASN), but also members of the council, Dharma Wanita, and the Family Empowerment and Welfare Movement Team (TP PKK)," said Farhan.

He explained that this program aims to raise empathy for vulnerable groups such as the elderly and women.

"These mothers are included in at least two vulnerable groups: women and the elderly. If they are also disabled, that is already three layers of vulnerability. So empathy must be the basis first, then we build other technocratic programs," he explained.

One concrete form of this program is the obligation of every ASN of Bandung City to adopt a foster parent in their residential environment to be assisted in accessing health and nutrition.

"This is a development of the integrated coaching post (posbindu). We want this posbindu to be more alive and have a direct impact," said Farhan.

The village head and RW will be the main liaison in implementing the program which will be evaluated for the first time at the end of the third month and the total evaluation in the sixth month.

"We will not stop this program, but we will continue to improve it. This is our initial capital to strengthen the existing posbindus," he added.

This program is not intended to replace the role of the family, but to encourage collective awareness of the role of social empathy.

"Don't think negatively that many elderly people are neglected. What we do is to raise empathy so that the role of posbindu can be more optimal. Because one of the burdens of our Universal Health Coverage (UHC) is the elderly who suffer from degenerative diseases," he explained.

Symbolic assistance was handed over to 14 elderly mothers from various sub-districts by the Mayor, Deputy Mayor, Chairperson of TP PKK, and a number of heads of departments.

Several ASN also brought their beloved mothers as a real form of respect for mothers starting from home.

Support also came from the Bandung City Regional People's Representative Council (DPRD), which expressed its commitment to participate in the program.

Deputy Chairman of the Bandung City DPRD, Toni Wijaya, appreciated this program and will invite 50 members of the Bandung City DPRD to get involved.

"We strongly support the Bandung Nyaah Ka Indung program. I will invite all 50 members of the DPRD as soon as possible so there is a continuation," he said. (Bandung City Communication and Information Service/Fau)
