PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - Deputy Mayor of Bandung Erwin sealed the location of the felling of 12 trees without permission on Jalan Pasar Pola Cijerah RT 06 RW 04 (20/7/2026) to enforce regulations and protect public space.

The sealing was carried out after the Bandung City Government discovered alleged tree felling without permission and plans to use the sidewalk inappropriately.

Erwin said the government also summoned the location owner to undergo an inspection report as a follow-up to the alleged violation.

"I happened to receive a report from the sub-district head. There was illegal felling of 12 trees here, and there's also a plan to use the sidewalk. This clearly violates Regional Regulation No. 9 of 2019 and Regional Regulation No. 5 of 2022 concerning spatial planning. God willing, we have sealed the location and summoned the owner to undergo an investigation report (BAP)," said Erwin.

Until the investigation took place, the summoned parties had not yet complied with the invitation, even though the government continued to prioritize resolution in accordance with applicable provisions.

"They said they'd been summoned, but they haven't arrived yet. We want to find the best solution. The rules must be enforced, after all. We also want to know why this felling was carried out without notifying the sub-district head or village head," he said.

Erwin explained that the logging was allegedly carried out independently at around 02.00 WIB so that it was not monitored by regional officers.

He emphasized that any tree felling in Bandung City must obtain a permit from the Housing and Settlement Areas Agency.

"If you cut down a tree, you must first apply for a permit from the DPKP. If permitted, the agency can carry out the felling. However, this was done without a permit, which is clearly a violation," he stressed.

Perpetrators are threatened with sanctions according to regional regulations in the form of a fine of up to IDR 10 million and criminal sanctions based on applicable provisions.

In addition, Erwin ensured that the sidewalk would be returned to its function as a safe and comfortable space for pedestrians.

"The sidewalk is intended for pedestrians, both Bandung residents and visiting visitors. We will gradually improve it so that the sidewalk can once again become a public facility that is safe and comfortable for the public to use," he said.

The Bandung City Government has also prepared a Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises Center program in 30 sub-districts to support economic activities without disrupting the function of public spaces.

"Sidewalks are a public right. If they are used for other purposes, their rights are being compromised. Therefore, we will continue to conduct outreach and reorganization to restore public facilities to their proper function," he concluded.
