PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The Bandung City Government, through the Civil Service and Human Resources Development Agency (BKPSDM), is preparing the 2026 ASN Achievement Award to recognize civil servants (ASN) who produce innovation and make a real impact on society. The event is scheduled to peak on October 29, 2026.

Evi Hendarin, Head of the Bandung City Human Resources Development Agency (BKPSDM), stated that sustainable innovation is one indicator of successful civil servant performance. Innovation is expected to accelerate the implementation of government programs while addressing community needs.

"What makes us proud is when a civil servant innovates to accelerate various program activities within their scope of work," said Evi at the Bandung City BKPSDM Office, Monday (19/10/2026).

He cited Buruan Sae as an example, which encourages land use to support family food security, and Kang Pisman, which educates the public about waste management and environmental preservation.

According to Evi, the sustainability of both innovations is crucial for wider adoption. Buruan Sae has also garnered international attention through an awards ceremony held in Milan, Italy.

"Buruan Sae and Kang Pisman can continue to educate the public about the importance of cleanliness and environmental management to have a greater impact on food security in Bandung City," he said.

To encourage new innovations, the Bandung City Human Resources Development Agency (BKPSDM) regularly conducts assessments for Outstanding Civil Servants (ASN). In 2026, the program was expanded into two categories: Outstanding Civil Servants (ASN Berprestasi) and Exemplary Civil Servants (ASN Exemplar).

The Outstanding Civil Servants category aims to identify the best talent capable of innovating and improving the quality of public services. A number of finalists have been selected to participate in an assessment by a specially recruited panel of academics.

In addition to awarding awards, the Bandung City Human Resources Development Agency (BKPSDM) runs various programs to improve the capacity and professionalism of civil servants. Competency development is carried out based on the Human Capital Development Plan (HCDP), through both face-to-face and digital-based learning.

One of the facilities used is the Bandung Learning Center, which provides an e-learning-based learning management system (LMS). This facility allows civil servants (ASN) to access learning materials to support ongoing competency development.

The BKPSDM also strengthens employee integrity through collaboration with the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) of the Republic of Indonesia, providing basic anti-corruption training and civil servant integrity. This program is mandatory for all civil servants in Bandung City, as directed by Bandung Mayor Muhammad Farhan.

In personnel management, the BKPSDM handles four main aspects: recruitment, placement, competency development, and performance assessment. This management is supported by Gercep Asik, or the Fast Gateway to Personnel System Administration, which is integrated with various service features for approximately 22,000 civil servants in Bandung City.

Evi hopes that strengthening competence, integrity, and a culture of innovation can encourage all ASN to make real contributions to regional development, community empowerment, and improving public services.

"We hope that all 22,000 civil servants in Bandung City will impact development, community empowerment, and public services in the city," he said. (Bandung City Communications and Information Office/rka)
