PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The Bandung City Government sent water tanks and prepared clean water facilities for residents around the Cihanja RTH.

Bandung Mayor Muhammad Farhan said the step was taken because residents had difficulty accessing water springs in the area.

Farhan explained that the residents' settlements were located at a higher level than the water source, thus hampering water distribution.

"It must be admitted that the depth is indeed too far, sometimes even up to 100 meters," said Farhan at RTH Cihanja 18/8/2026.

The depth of the water source means that the available springs cannot directly meet the needs of all local residents.

The Bandung City Government sent water tankers to areas deemed most in need to ensure residents' water needs were met.

"For very crucial points, we are still sending tanks," he said.

In addition to tank distribution, the development of clean water facilities is being pursued through recess programs and main ideas (pokir).

This development is directed to locations that allow access to water sources to meet community needs.

Farhan emphasized that the pipe network through the Regional Public Drinking Water Company (Perumda Air Minum) is a long-term solution.

"The long-term is only PDAM. There can be no other long-term interests besides PDAM," he stressed.

The Bandung City Government also discussed strengthening the raw water supply with Indonesia Power through plans to take water from Saguling and Cirata.

The Bandung City Government is working to increase access to around 3,500 liters of water per second from these two sources to strengthen the supply.

"We're currently negotiating with Indonesia Power to extract 3,500 liters per second from Saguling and Cirata. Indonesia Power hasn't yet provided the necessary support," he said.

While waiting for the piping system to be strengthened, the Bandung City Government ensures that residents' needs will continue to be met through temporary solutions.

Residents around the Cihanja RTH will receive water tank distribution and facility construction according to the level of field needs.

"However, the solution here is still temporary. Clean water facilities or sending trucks. Because long-term solutions still require the use of PDAM," he concluded.
