PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The Bandung City Government has opened registration for the first stage of the New Student Admission System (SPMB) for the 2026/2027 Academic Year for the affirmative and achievement pathways for elementary and junior high schools via the spmb.bandung.go.id page on June 8-12, 2026.
This registration is part of the local government's efforts to expand access to fair and transparent education for all prospective students in the city of Bandung.
Head of the Bandung City Education Office, Asep Saeful Gufron, explained that the 2026 SPMB will be implemented in two stages: the first stage for the affirmative and achievement pathways, and the second stage for the domicile and transfer pathways.
"Parents of prospective new students, please follow the complete SPMB process according to the schedule. After creating an account and filling out the registration form yesterday, the first phase of registration will open for two pathways: Affirmative Action (RMP/MBK) and Achievement (Academic/Non-Academic)," said Asep.
Before the registration phase opened, the Bandung City Education Office had carried out the process of data collection and account creation for prospective new students online from May 11 to June 5, 2026 using the Population Identification Number.
To make things easier for the public, the Bandung City Government provides integrated services involving the Education Office, the Population and Civil Registration Office, and the Bandung City Social Service.
This service helps residents resolve administrative issues, verify population data, and provide consultations regarding admissions and school selection.
"Not only data integration, but also providing integrated services face-to-face at the Education Office and online through chatbox features and social media," he explained.
In the affirmative action pathway, the government provides a quota of 15 percent for elementary schools and 30 percent for junior high schools, including a quota for students with special needs.
The requirements for the affirmative pathway include prospective students being residents of Bandung City and registered in the National Socio-Economic Single Data (DTSEN) deciles 1 to 5.
Meanwhile, the achievement pathway has a quota of 25 percent, consisting of 15 percent academic achievement and 10 percent non-academic achievement.
The academic achievement pathway uses report card grades as the basis for selection, while the non-academic achievement pathway uses certificates or championship charters at least at the city level issued according to regulations.
Asep confirmed that participants who have not been accepted through the achievement pathway can still participate in the second stage of registration through the domicile pathway according to the applicable requirements.
"For applicants on the achievement pathway, there are two stages this year. If the selection results are announced and a prospective student is declared unsuccessful, they can reapply in the second stage, using the domicile pathway, provided their Family Card (KK) has been issued for at least one year," he explained.
He also ensured that participants in the affirmative action pathway who had not been accepted would still have the opportunity to fill the quota at schools that still had available places.
"Of course, we are committed to ensuring that RMP applicants continue their education at both public and private schools," he said.
The Bandung City Education Office urges the public to follow all stages of the SPMB honestly and not to trust parties who promise graduation through unofficial channels.
"I emphasize that if anyone promises to get admission to a particular school, report them and provide evidence of the allegations. As directed by the Mayor, anyone involved will be dealt with firmly," he asserted.
The public can obtain information on schedules, requirements, quotas, selection results, complaint services, and various other information directly through the spmb.bandung.go.id page.
The 2026 SPMB program is expected to ensure that all school-age children in Bandung City have equal opportunities to continue their education through a system that is transparent, accountable, and easily accessible to the public.
