PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - Acting (Acting) Governor of West Java Bey Machmudin won an award as regional head supporting the best zakat management in Indonesia from the National Zakat Amil Agency (BAZNAS) of the Republic of Indonesia.

Bey Machmudin received the award certificate at the 2024 BAZNAS Award which was opened by the Minister of Religion representing the President of the Republic of Indonesia at the Bidakara Hotel Jakarta, Thursday (29/2/2024).

Bey is considered to have an active role and contribution in supporting the zakat movement and encouraging community welfare in the West Java region.

Chairman of BAZNAS RI Noor Achmad said that the 2024 BAZNAS Award was given in recognition of the contribution of zakat activists in raising awareness of paying zakat among ASN and the wider community.

"He is also considered to have succeeded in making innovations in zakat management," said Noor in his speech.

According to him, regional heads as zakat drivers have an important role in collecting zakat, infaq and alms funds so that the targets set by BAZNAS can be achieved.

"Without their role, BAZNAS in the regions would not have developed as it is now. Everyone is moving and the results can reach the target," he said.

In 2023, BAZNAS and LAZ throughout Indonesia will have collected zakat, infaq and alms funds amounting to IDR 33 trillion. Meanwhile, in 2024, Baznas RI is targeting IDR 41 trillion.

"Every year the increase in zakat, infaq and alms is an average of 30 percent, and this year we are targeting IDR 41 trillion," said Noor.

The BAZNAS Award, which is routinely held every year, is a form of appreciation for individuals or institutions who contribute to zakat management in Indonesia.

This year, the recipients of the 2024 BAZNAS Award came from various categories, including the regional head category supporting zakat, the muzaki category supporting zakat, the BAZNAS Province/Regency/City category, and the LAZ category.

Apart from Bey Machmudin, 14 Governors and Acting. Other governors in Indonesia also received similar awards. Including 58 Regents and 41 Mayors in Indonesia.

The Regents and Mayors in the West Java region who won awards for supporting the best zakat management include, Acting. Sumedang Regent, Acting. Regent of Garut, Regent of Bandung, Regent of Sukabumi, Regent of Tasikmalaya, Acting. Mayor of Sukabumi, Acting. Mayor of Tasikmalaya, and Acting. Mayor of Bandung.
