PORTALJABAR, BEKASI REGENCY - Acting Regent of Bekasi Asep Surya Atmaja emphasized the optimization of social assistance and health services while accompanying the Minister of Social Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia at the distribution of Social Rehabilitation Assistance on February 25, 2026 in North Cikarang.

Asep said that Bekasi Regency has a population of 3.3 million people with a poverty rate of around 8.3 percent, so it requires targeted central program support.

He noted that 20,000 heads of families or 69,000 people received the 2025 Family Hope Program, while 116,000 families received non-cash food assistance.

A total of 100 Integrated Welfare Housing units were distributed to improve the quality of housing for low-income residents.

Asep explained that of the 77,000 Contribution Assistance Recipients who were previously inactive, 21,000 have been reactivated and 56,000 others are still in the process.

The Bekasi Regency Government currently covers approximately 776,000 health insurance participants and is targeting an increase to 900,000 participants.

He revealed that the reduction in transfer funds of IDR 649 billion had an impact on regional fiscal capacity, so updating data was an important step in maintaining accurate targeting.

The update involved 187 villages, along with village heads and assistants, to ensure that residents who truly needed assistance were accurately recorded.

The event also included cataract surgeries, mass circumcisions, health checkups, and entrepreneurship assistance worth Rp776,360,500 for beneficiaries. (Bekasi Regency Communications and Information Office/bhf)
