PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - Pocari Run 2026 will attract around 16,000 participants and is projected to boost tourism and the economy of Bandung City.

The national running event took place over two days, 19–20 September 2026, with the majority of participants coming from outside Bandung.

Bandung Mayor Muhammad Farhan said that participants and their companions have the potential to increase accommodation, transportation, culinary activities, and visits to tourist destinations.

"So far, there have been 16,000 participants. So, if the average participant brings three people with them, that means 16,000 people have had an impact over two days," Farhan said at Husein Sastranegara International Airport in Bandung on Friday (September 18, 2026).

The high number of participants also boosted demand for accommodation, with hotel occupancy rates in Bandung reaching 100 percent.

"Hotel occupancy is already 100 percent. Even the mayor can't get any, he has to sleep in his office," Farhan joked.

According to Farhan, the activity also requires mobility arrangements so that participant activities can continue without disrupting road users.

"There are no road closures at all. There are only diversions and sharing," he said.

The police are tasked with regulating traffic flow, while the Bandung City Transportation Agency provides support in regulating vehicles along the route.

"The police have stated that if there's a red light, everyone will stop. The arrangements are entirely up to the police. We at the Bandung City Government will provide backup," he said.

The Bandung City Government also provides cheering points in areas along the route as a space for community participation to support participants.

"For regional purposes, every area passed by the running track will have a cheering point, with people cheering," said Farhan.

Route cleanliness is a shared responsibility, involving the Environmental Service and the Gober troops in each route area.

"Regarding cleanliness, it's 100 percent our responsibility. Not only the Environmental Agency, but also all the Gober troops whose areas we pass through will participate in the cleanup," he said.

The Transportation Agency and the Civil Service Police Unit conducted patrols the night before the event to maintain security along the route.

Health teams are also on standby at several crucial points to address the safety needs of participants during the race.

"For security reasons, the Transportation Agency and Public Order Agency (Satpol PP) will be patrolling these areas since the night before. For safety, health teams are on standby at crucial points," said Farhan.

The Bandung City Government also prepared a location for dawn prayers for participants so that their worship needs could still be accommodated before the competition began.

Saturday participants were directed to perform the Subuh prayer at the Al Ukhuwah Mosque, Jalan Wastukencana, while Sunday participants were given several prayer points.

"Meanwhile, for those running on Sunday, mosques and prayer rooms will be provided from Cikapayang to Cicadas. There will be several locations for dawn prayers," he said.
