PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The Bandung City Government is finalizing its preparations as host and targeting overall champion of the 2026 Porprov and Peparda.
Secretary of the Bandung City Youth and Sports Agency (Dispora), Hendy Maulana Yusup, conveyed this readiness in the Sonata Talkshow (13/8/2026).
Bandung City will be the co-host of the 2026 Porprov along with Sumedang Regency and Bogor Regency.
A number of Porprov sports will take place in Bandung City, including baseball, softball, soft tennis, tennis, and woodball.
The matches will utilize the Lodaya and Arcamanik Softball Fields, the Caringin tennis courts, Maluku Park, and the facilities of the Indonesian Education University.
Bandung City will also host the 2026 Peparda together with the West Java Provincial Government, featuring 17 sports.
"The Mayor happens to be very focused, especially on sports. He's also very dedicated to sports activities. This is a form of motivation and encouragement for the athletes, given the enthusiasm and support the Mayor has shown, as well as the support from the executive and legislative branches, who have and will continue to support him," said Hendy.
Hendy said that athlete selection had been carried out since the qualification stage, so that almost all sports had been successfully qualified.
"The selection process for athletes in both the Peparda and Porprov competitions has been ongoing for a long time. Thank God, we in Bandung have qualified almost all of our athletes for both Porprov and Peparda to compete in all the sports being competed," he explained.
The athletes are currently undergoing training and trial matches to strengthen their readiness for the competition in November 2026.
The Bandung City Government also prepared the best service for contingents from various regions who came to compete during the sporting event.
"In accordance with the Mayor's enthusiasm, the City of Bandung must provide and welcome the guests who will attend, the contingents from cities and regencies throughout West Java, with the best possible hospitality. God willing, we are ready," he said.
Public support is also needed to encourage athletes, especially when the competition takes place in Bandung City.
"This is something that requires support not only from the city government, but also from the community, who must provide full support, especially for matches held in Bandung," he said.
Bandung City is targeting overall champions by providing equal opportunities for all sports branches to contribute achievements.
"Because the goal is to win the overall championship, no single sport will be a golden child. The Mayor expects all sports to deliver optimal results," he said.
According to Hendy, all the sports branches that Bandung City participates in are an important part of the effort to win the overall championship title.
"All the participating sports, and their athletes sent to participate in the Porprov and Peparda branches, are all top sports for Bandung City, so they can win the overall championship," he said.
The Bandung City Youth and Sports Agency prioritizes the development of local athletes in stages from junior to senior levels.
"The city of Bandung prioritizes the development of local athletes and does not rely on recruiting athletes from other cities, regencies, or provinces. Even with the current crop of athletes, there are still many who have progressed from junior to senior level," he explained.
The development of Porprov athletes is carried out in collaboration with the Indonesian National Sports Committee (KONI) of Bandung City, while Peparda athletes with disabilities are developed in collaboration with the National Paralympic Committee of Indonesia (NPCI).
These preparations are expected to make Bandung City successful as a host and achieve success through local athletes.
