PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Bandung Institute of Technology (MWA ITB) Budi Gunadi Sadikin inaugurated Prof. Tatacipta Dirgantara as ITB Chancellor for the 2025-2030 period at the ITB MWA Open Session in the West Hall, ITB Ganesha Campus, Monday (20/1/2025).

Chairman of the ITB MWA Budi Gunadi Sadikin hopes that the ITB Chancellor can continue to graduate alumni who can contribute to the nation and continue to be rich in various fields, one of which is in the arts.

"Hopefully there will be more ITB alumni figures, who because of their good education results, become great figures and I hope not only in Indonesia but also in Asia and the world," he said in his speech.

He expressed his gratitude for the dedication of the ITB Chancellor for the 2020-2025 Period, Prof. Reini Wirahadikusumah, who has succeeded in carrying out the tridharma of higher education since the Covid-19 pandemic, making the campus more modern and producing alumni who play roles in government.

Meanwhile, the Indonesian Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology Satryo Soemantri Brodjonegoro has high hopes for Prof. Tatacipta Dirgantara to make ITB a world-class university that is superior and independent.

"ITB must be a pioneer of change through education, research, community service, and multidisciplinary entrepreneurship and innovation that combines humanities, arts, science, technology, and business," he said.

He also reminded of the importance of ITB's four callings as a university, including pioneering the nation's intelligence, maintaining humanitarian values, innovating excellence, and committing to service that has a real impact.

"Hopefully ITB will continue to be progressive and be at the forefront in responding to the nation's challenges through innovative and inclusive solutions," he said.

In his speech, the Chancellor of ITB expressed his gratitude for the trust given and emphasized his commitment to making ITB a Fourth Generation University integrated in education, research, community service, entrepreneurship, and multidisciplinary innovation.

"We must be ready to face global challenges such as technological change, clean energy, health, and environmental sustainability through science-based solutions and innovation," he said.

He outlined a vision to build a superior academic ecosystem by utilizing cutting-edge research, strategic partnerships, and multidisciplinary collaborations. "I am confident that ITB is capable of becoming a pioneer of change that produces holistic solutions by combining humanities, arts, science, technology, and business," he said.


Profile of the Chancellor of ITB, Prof. Tatacipta Dirgantara

Graduated from ITB, both undergraduate programs (1988-1993) and master programs (1993-1995). Continuing his doctoral education at the Wessex Institute of Technology, England (1995-1997) which was then transferred to Queen Mary University of London, England (1997-2000). Prof. Tata also continued his professional engineering education at ITB in 2019.

Previously served as Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (FTMD) and Head of the Solid Mechanics and Light Structures Expertise Group. Deputy Director of International Relations, Directorate of Partnership and International Relations ITB (2015-2020), Secretary of the Noble Values Commission, ITB Professors Forum (2017-2019), Head of the Future Science Commission, ITB Professors Forum (2020), Head of the Light Structures Expertise Group FTMD ITB (2019-2023), Expert Council of the PII Mechanical Vocational Agency (2024-present), Head of the Indonesian Engineering Deans Forum (2021-present), and others.

Received awards as National Transportation Figure from the Transportation Policy Agency, Ministry of Transportation of the Republic of Indonesia (2024), People of the Year METRO TV (2021), Award for Scientific breakthrough against pandemic, Indonesian Ventilator Team, ITB (2021), Distinguish Graduate, National Resilience Institute, PPSA XXII (2019), and dozens of other achievements since 1995.

Has written 98 Scopus indexed papers, h-index 13 and citation 821, 172 documents on Google Scholar, h-index 19 and citation 1337. (guh)
