PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The Bandung City Government recorded investment realization of around IDR 11 trillion in 2025 and continues to encourage the development of various strategic investment-based projects, ranging from electric city transportation, public street lighting, vertical housing, to the revitalization of sports areas as an effort to strengthen regional economic growth, Thursday (18/6/2026).
Bandung Mayor Muhammad Farhan stated that this investment achievement is important capital for the government to expand cooperation schemes with the private sector in infrastructure development and public services.
"Investment realization by 2025 has reached around IDR 11 trillion. We are currently pursuing various new investments related to public services and the development of Bandung City," said Farhan at Bandung City Hall.
He explained that one of the projects currently being prepared is the construction of around 850 public street lighting (PJU) points through an investment scheme with a buy-the-service mechanism, where the private sector builds first before the government makes payment for the service.
This scheme is considered more efficient because it can accelerate infrastructure development without directly burdening regional budgets.
In addition, the Bandung City Government is also preparing a public transportation transformation through the development of electric-based city transportation which is expected to increase public interest in public transportation.
"The most exciting thing now is electric public transportation. We want to re-engage people in using public transportation. Therefore, it must also look good, be comfortable, modern, and environmentally friendly," he said.
The development of electric transportation is carried out through collaboration between the regional government, the West Java Provincial Government, and the private sector.
In the housing sector, the government is encouraging the development of vertical housing as a solution to limited urban land through a cooperative scheme utilizing government and state-owned enterprise assets with investors.
Farhan said a number of assets, including those belonging to PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI), are being considered for development into residential areas.
In addition, the Bandung City Government is also preparing an investment concept in the sports sector through the revitalization of several facilities such as the Bandung Arena, hockey fields, and the Lodaya area to support sports tourism.
Farhan also highlighted the development of the electric vehicle ecosystem, which has driven the need to build Public Electric Vehicle Charging Stations (SPKLU) in Bandung City.
He added that new gas station permits currently being processed are also required to provide SPKLU facilities as part of supporting the clean energy transition.
"If there are too many spots, the investment value actually decreases. So now we're organizing them to be more orderly and have better economic value," he said regarding advertising arrangements as part of strengthening the investment climate.
The Bandung City Government emphasized that all investment projects are aimed not only at increasing the regional economic value, but also at providing a direct impact on improving public services and the quality of life of the community.
