PORTALJABAR, DISTRICT. WEST BANDUNG - West Java Regional Secretary Herman Suryatman visited the Sarimukti Final Disposal Site (TPA) in Cipatat District, West Bandung Regency.
The inspection was carried out to check waste management in Greater Bandung after Eid.
From the results of his review, Herman said that waste management at the Sarimukti TPA during Eid was running normally.
Herman did not receive any reports of rubbish piling up at the temporary disposal site in Greater Bandung.
"The second day of Eid has started to become effective again and to date there have been no reports of waste accumulation in certain places. This means that overall waste management in Greater Bandung is relatively safe," said Herman, Tuesday (16/4/2024).
Of the four waste management zones at Sarimukti TPA, only zones 2 and 3 are currently operating.
Zone 1 and zone 4 are currently being repaired due to a fire some time ago. However, the public does not need to worry because the West Java Provincial Government is currently preparing zone 5 to anticipate accumulation.
"So there are four zones, we are currently recovering zones 1 and 4 because there was a fire accident, only zones 2 and 3 are operating now," he said.
"To anticipate, we are now preparing zone 5 or expansion zone.
"So people don't need to worry that we can manage their waste, but we still need their participation in managing waste wisely from home," added Herman.
The capacity of the Sarimukti landfill per day is 2,000 tons. This number fell to 1,000 tons per day after the fire. Herman said that during Eid his party would allow up to 1,600 tonnes per day.
"Hopefully post-Idul Fitri we can return to 1,000 tons per day for four regions, namely Bandung City, Cimahi City, Bandung Regency, West Bandung Regency. Therefore, we ask residents in these four regions to be wise in managing waste from home," he hoped.
Meanwhile, Head of the West Java Environmental Service, Prima Mayaningtyas, revealed that the waste disposed of at the Sarimukti landfill until the first day of Eid al-Fitr reached 46 thousand tons and the trend is still increasing.
"We received 46 thousand tons of waste disposed of at Sarimukti until the day of Eid al-Fitr yesterday, and the trend continues to increase," he said.
Prima hopes that the quota of 1,600 tons per day can be used wisely and efficiently until the end of April 2024 according to the circular.
"We are still providing quotas until the end of April, which we have conveyed in a circular so that the quota can be used as wisely and efficiently as possible," he hoped.
The useful life of the Sarimukti TPA could be until 2028 as the Legoknangka TPPAS begins operations.
"This Sarimukti can be used until 2028, it is relatively safe because in 2028 the Legoknangka TPPAS will start operating," said Prima.
