PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The West Java Provincial Government is ready to collaborate with higher education institutions in the development of West Java in order to achieve community welfare.

This was conveyed by West Java Regional Secretary Herman Suryatman at the Halalbihalal event for Higher Education Service Institutions (LLDikti) together with the West Java Association of Indonesian Private Universities (APTISI), the Association of Indonesian Private Higher Education Governing Bodies (ABPPTSI), and the West Java Indonesian Higher Education Organizing Alliance (APPERTI) in West Java Aptisi Building, Bandung City, Thursday (2/5/2024).

The spirit of collaboration echoed by Herman is driven by problems in the field which can only be resolved quickly if all parties work together and work together to achieve the main goal, namely the welfare of society.

"Regardless of the institution, profession, I think how can we realize the welfare of society," he said in his speech.

Herman gave an example, a number of problems which he said were joint homework, including the poverty rate of 7.62 percent, handling stunting with the Zero New Stunting program, and the unemployment rate of 7.44 percent or around 3.5 million West Java residents.

Talking about welfare, according to Herman, one of the priorities is to reduce the unemployment rate significantly.

He suspects that the high number also comes from universities.

"Statistics show that currently West Java unemployment is 7.44 percent, approximately 3.5 million people from West Java are still unemployed. I suspect these are college graduates, high school/vocational school graduates, and also junior high school graduates," said Herman.

According to him, the government together with related agencies and institutions need to accelerate and take advantage of the momentum of the demographic bonus in Indonesia.

The productive age of generation

The learning process, curriculum and independent campus are tools for achieving prosperity.

"I think this is collective homework, how can students who later graduate be able to make society prosperous if they themselves are not prosperous," said Herman.
