PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The Bandung City Government together with various agencies held traffic safety education through the Simpang Sejuta Selamat program at Simpang Lima in the Jalan Asia Afrika area on 2/5/2026 to reduce violations and the risk of accidents at vulnerable points.

The Regional Coordinator 2 of the Bandung Edan Sepur Community, Abdullah Putra Gandhara, said that this activity targets the behavior of drivers at intersections that are still risky, such as running red lights and violating zebra crossing boundaries.

"Usually, we conduct our activities at level crossings. But this time, we're expanding to intersections, as many drivers still engage in risky behavior at these points, such as running red lights or stopping at zebra crossings," Abdullah said.

The location was chosen at an intersection with a high accident risk level close to a level crossing so that education is targeted at road users.

The Bandung City Transportation Agency, police, Civil Service Police Unit, and emergency services Public Safety Center 119 and Bandung Siaga 112 are directly involved in activities to provide education and rapid response during emergency situations.

Officers take action against violations in the field using handheld devices, thus providing a deterrent effect for violators and increasing traffic compliance.

"If there are violations, enforcement will be carried out in the form of ticketing by the police using handheld devices, as is the case at level crossings," said Abdullah.

Education also covers steps to handle accidents and the use of emergency services 112 and 119 so that the public can respond to incidents quickly and appropriately.

This activity has a direct impact on residents by increasing safety awareness and reducing the potential for accidents at busy intersections.

The program is planned to take place regularly every three weeks at three different points, namely Simpang Lima Asia Afrika, the Merdeka-Aceh area, and the Dago area to reach more road users.

"The hope, of course, is to prevent traffic accidents, both at intersections and level crossings. We want the public to be more disciplined and aware of road safety," said Abdullah.

The Bandung City Government ensures that this program is a sustainable solution in creating safe and comfortable traffic for the community.
