PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The Bandung City Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) held an independent evacuation simulation at the Cingised Rusunawa.

The activity took place in Cisaranten Kulon Village, Arcamanik District, Saturday (5/9/2026), to increase preparedness for the Lembang Fault earthquake.

Head of the Bandung City BPBD, Didi Ruswandi, explained that the simulation used the Lembang Fault earthquake scenario as the most destructive threat.

"We chose this scenario because the Lembang earthquake is the most destructive potential disaster in Bandung. This activity also coincides with the anniversary celebrations," Didi said when met at the event location.

The selection of Rusunawa Cingised takes into account the high residential density so that the area is vulnerable to the impact of disasters.

In addition, residents and managers of the Cingised Rusunawa showed high enthusiasm in participating in the independent evacuation simulation prepared by the BPBD.

"This area is very densely populated, making it highly vulnerable when a disaster strikes. Furthermore, the community's willingness is extraordinary. Not everyone is willing to participate in the simulation, but it's managed by a technical management organization. They are very enthusiastic about this activity," he added.

The simulation focuses on increasing the capacity of residents through hands-on training to enable them to respond to emergency situations quickly and appropriately.

The implementation of the activity also involved the local Community Health Center and the Housing and Settlement Agency (DPKP) as the owner of the Cingised Rusunawa.

More than 1,000 residents are targeted to participate in a comprehensive simulation during the implementation of activities that will take place the following day.

"Hopefully, everyone can participate. A larger, more comprehensive simulation will be held tomorrow so more people can join," Didi hoped.

The exercise is expected to foster self-evacuation habits so that residents are able to save themselves when the Lembang Fault earthquake occurs.

Public preparedness is crucial for ensuring the evacuation process is calm, fast, and orderly, reducing the risk of casualties during a disaster.
