PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - SMAN 24 Bandung held the Smartren 2025 activity as part of the character education strengthening program during the month of Ramadan. This activity was opened by the Deputy Mayor of Bandung Erwin, Thursday (13/3/2025).

Acting Principal of SMAN 24 Bandung Suparman said that his school has long been running a program to eradicate illiteracy in the Qur'an.

Currently, around 90 percent of students are able to read the Qur'an fluently, and only 10 percent still need further assistance.

Suparman said that this activity is in line with the vision of the Bandung City Government (Pemkot) in eradicating illiteracy of the Qur'an among students.

"This activity not only fills the month of Ramadan, but also supports the vision of the Bandung City Government in eradicating illiteracy of the Al-Quran. We also coach students who have memorized 1-2 juz to further improve their memorization," he said.

He hopes that through Smartren, all students can read the Qur'an well and continue to practice religious values after Ramadan.

Suparman is determined to achieve 100 percent of students who are able to read the Qur'an and make Islamic values a part of everyday life.

In addition to learning the Qur'an, in his sermon, Deputy Mayor of Bandung Erwin said that there are five awarenesses as keys to success, namely religious awareness, seeking knowledge, love of the homeland, socializing, and organizing.

"Today's youth are the leaders of the future. If they have awareness in these five aspects, God willing, they will be successful in this world and the hereafter," he said.
