PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - Bandung Mayor Muhammad Farhan confirmed that public services within the Bandung City Government (Pemkot) remain operational despite power outages in several areas, as a power backup system is in place and functioning properly. Farhan made this statement at Bandung City Hall on Monday (June 22, 2026), while also highlighting the impact of the outage on micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) experiencing operational disruptions.

Farhan said that government services were not significantly impacted because the Bandung City Government had anticipated energy needs through an adequate backup system.

"So far, government services are still running well because we have a fairly good power backup system. Furthermore, energy consumption has become more efficient," said Farhan.

He assessed that power outages have the potential to cause losses for small businesses that are highly dependent on electricity supplies to carry out production and service activities.

"I am very concerned about the disrupted electricity supply, especially for small and medium-sized businesses that are being severely impacted," he said.

Farhan mentioned that there were cases of ornamental fish entrepreneurs who experienced losses due to fish dying during power outages, which had an impact on the economic value of the business.

"I heard that ornamental fish entrepreneurs experienced losses because many of their fish died due to power outages. Even though their economic value is high," he said.

He also highlighted other business sectors that are vulnerable to impact, such as vehicle repair shops and lathe workshops that are highly dependent on electricity in their production processes.

Farhan hopes that the State Electricity Company (PLN) can improve the quality of its infrastructure and electricity system to prevent similar disruptions from occurring again.

"I hope PLN can immediately repair its various facilities and supporting systems. The Bandung City Government will support PLN's infrastructure needs," he said.

He urged business owners to prepare a backup electricity system as an anticipatory measure to deal with possible power outages in the future.

Regarding potential economic losses, the Bandung City Government has not received an official report and will coordinate with the Investment and One-Stop Integrated Services Agency (DPMPTSP) to conduct impact data collection.

Farhan emphasized that public services within the Bandung City Government continued to operate without interruption despite power outages in several areas.

"Thank God, it wasn't disturbed," he concluded.
