PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - People's shopping or consumption patterns during the 2025 Eid season will be influenced by five interrelated factors.
The five factors are a decrease in people's income, government budget efficiency, disruption of logistics distribution, e-commerce competition, and an increase in the price of goods.
This was revealed in the Statistics Webinar Series #1 2025 of the West Java Communication and Information Service in Bandung City, Thursday (13/3/2025).
The webinar held by the West Java Communication and Information Service took the theme 'Understanding Consumption Patterns and Their Impact on the Regional Economy' during the 2025 Eid Season', attended by economic stakeholders.
Chairman of the West Java Regional Executive Board of the Indonesian Retail Entrepreneurs Association (Aprindo), Yudi Hartanto, described how currently 46 percent of consumers choose to shop at online stores (marketplaces) rather than offline stores such as retail.
"The end result is that it will further suppress conventional retail profits," said Yudi Hartanto.
Government budget efficiency, logistics disruptions due to natural disasters, and e-commerce competition, said Yudi, also have the potential to influence people's shopping patterns.
"These five factors will greatly influence people's consumption patterns," said Yudi.
Amidst these challenges, Aprindo projects a 15 percent increase in sales compared to the beginning of the year, but it will be lower than the 2024 Eid season.
"We continue to strive, including through integration between physical and online stores, product diversification, and promotional service programs," said Yudi.
Windhiarso Ponco Adi Putranto, Director of Price Statistics at BPS Indonesia, revealed that there are several commodities that have the potential to cause inflation during Ramadan and Eid.
"We need to be wary of broiler chicken meat, air freight rates, broiler chicken eggs, shallots, garlic, rice and gold jewelry," he said.
According to him, this commodity also caused inflation of up to 17 percent in 2024 in the same period.
Head of West Java Communication and Information Service Ika Mardiah said that the Statistics Webinar Series #1 2025 of West Java Communication and Information Service aims to understand people's consumption patterns before, during, and after Eid, and understand the impact of Eid on inflation, purchasing power and the economy in general.
"The hope is that during the 2025 Eid period, people's needs can be met with inflation remaining under control, then increasing awareness and the active role of the government and the community in managing the economy during the Eid period.
with a wise strategy," said Ika.
