PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - Bandung Mayor Muhammad Farhan opened Big Bad Wolf Books 2026 to expand the public's literacy experience through books, culinary delights, and recreation. (August 3, 2026)
Big Bad Wolf's first event in Bandung City took place at Bikasoga on August 3–9, 2026, from 10:00–22:00 WIB.
The concept of literacy tourism combines reading, book hunting, culinary delights, and recreation activities in one area.
"This is more than just a book exhibition. This is the first event in Bandung that we call literacy tourism. People come not only to buy books, but also to enjoy the atmosphere, read, travel, and most importantly, have a fun experience," said Muhammad Farhan.
The concept is designed to bring literacy activities closer to everyday life through a more relaxed and attractive atmosphere.
Muhammad Farhan appreciated the involvement of the Bandung City Archives and Library Service, Big Bad Wolf Books, Bank Indonesia West Java Representative Office, sponsors, and other partners.
"This event must be a success, as it's the first time it's being held in Bandung. Thank you to all parties who have collaborated so that the people of Bandung can enjoy this international literacy event," he said.
In addition to presenting millions of book collections, Big Bad Wolf Bandung 2026 combines the event with the Pages and Plates culinary festival.
This combination provides an opportunity for people to enjoy local culinary delights while reading and searching for books according to their needs.
According to Muhammad Farhan, the combination of literacy and culinary arts can attract more people to enjoy books through different experiences.
Head of the Bank Indonesia Representative Office for West Java Province, Junanto Herdiawan, said the activity also served as a platform for public financial literacy education.
Bank Indonesia presents a financial education program through the Bank Indonesia Library and encourages digital transactions using the Quick Response Code Indonesian Standard (QRIS).
"We continue to support increased literacy, particularly financial literacy. All transactions in this activity are also encouraged to use QRIS as part of our digital payment education program for the public," he said.
Country Director of Big Bad Wolf Books Indonesia, Marthius Wandi Budianto, expressed his appreciation for the holding of the international book festival in Bandung.
The public can take advantage of this event to find various books that provide sources of knowledge and inspiration.
Big Bad Wolf Books Bandung 2026 runs until August 9, 2026 at Bikasoga Bandung with visitor access every day from 10:00–22:00 WIB.
