PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - Bandung Mayor Muhammad Farhan encouraged street vendors to enter the digital marketplace after the Bandung City Government regulated illegal buildings and stalls in a number of strategic areas of the city, 13/5/2026.

The clean-up was carried out in stages through coordination between the Bandung City Government and the West Java Provincial Government to restore the function of public spaces and organize urban areas.

"Since a month ago, the Governor has asked us to report which illegal buildings will be demolished," said Farhan at Bandung City Hall.

The Bandung City Government prioritizes a persuasive approach before the demolition process is carried out so that the arrangement runs orderly and minimizes conflict.

"Why isn't there any resistance now? Because we've been educating them and engaging them in persuasive conversations," he said.

In addition to enforcement, the government is preparing solutions for traders through business training and mentoring so they can continue to carry out economic activities.

Farhan said the government would collaborate with e-commerce marketplace platform providers to help merchants transition to digital sales.

"We will collaborate with several companies that provide e-commerce marketplace platforms," he said.

The Bandung City Government also offers kiosks in traditional markets for traders who wish to continue selling directly.

"We offer to rent at the market, especially since BTM is still empty," he said.

A number of areas that are a priority for arrangement include Sukajadi and Astanaanyar, including the Jalan Ibu Inggit Garnasih area which has already been arranged.

The area arrangement involves sub-district heads, village heads, and the Civil Service Police Unit to provide guidance to traders in stages.

Farhan ensured that active traders would be directed to choose business solutions prepared by the government so they could continue to have a source of income.

"We will also direct those that are still active to enter the digital marketplace," he said.
