PORTALJABAR, GARUT REGENCY - The Garut Regency Government is collaborating with the Garut Class IIB Penitentiary to improve health services for inmates during their rehabilitation period (6/7/2026).
The agreement was marked by the signing of a memorandum of understanding by the Regent of Garut, Abdusy Syakur Amin, together with the Class IIB Garut Penitentiary.
Syakur said this collaboration is a form of responsibility on the part of the regional government to ensure that all citizens have the right to health services.
"We just witnessed the signing of an MoU between the Garut Regency Government and the Correctional Facility. This is essentially a kind of MoU where the Garut Regency Government will assist in providing services to inmates at the prison."
Syakur emphasized that inmates still have the right to receive proper health services regardless of their current legal status.
"Of course, they are people who are experiencing, let's say, one problem and we must not let it happen, especially when it concerns their health."
The Garut Regency Government instructed the Health Service to immediately follow up on this collaboration with optimal and non-discriminatory health services.
This collaboration is expected to improve the quality of prevention, treatment, and healthy lifestyle coaching services for all inmates at the Class IIB Garut Penitentiary.
