The Bandung City Regional Government continues to strive to reduce the social inequality rate or Gini ratio in Bandung City, which is currently still at 0.4.
PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - For this reason, Bandung Mayor Muhammad Farhan is currently making two strategies to reduce the figure.
"These two strategies are providing subsidies to poor community groups and expanding investment," he said at the Ramadan Celebration event in Andir District, Friday (7/3/2025).
According to him, the city of Bandung is currently still experiencing quite large social inequality.
"The Gini ratio in Bandung City has a high gap, at 0.4 it is not low. We must try to reduce it to the national standard of around 0.3," he said.
"We provide subsidies to poor communities, and the department continues to work until now. Regarding inflation, thank God we are able to control it," he added.
In addition, market inspections are also carried out by the government to find out the prices of basic commodities in the market.
"We inspect the market in the early hours of the morning. This price comparison is related to social assistance with the aim of reducing the burden of costs for the poor so that when they have more money they can use it for other needs," he said.
Meanwhile, regarding investment, Farhan will provide space for entrepreneurs in Bandung City.
"This investment helps, so those who have a lot of money to start a business, let's invest in Bandung City. In addition to hotels and other businesses, we also offer a waste processing business," he said. (Bandung City Communication and Information Service/rka)
