PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - Bandung Mayor Muhammad Farhan reminded all civil servants (ASN) not to get carried away by the euphoria surrounding the various events in the city. He emphasized that all ranks must refocus on their work to address the various issues still facing the local government.
Farhan made this statement while leading the commencement ceremony at Bandung City Hall on Monday (May 25, 2026). He stated that euphoria can be felt momentarily, but it should not interfere with one's responsibilities as a public servant.
"Euphoria must only last for a moment. It must not linger. We return to reality, return to our work and duties," he stressed.
Farhan requested that all civil servants and regional officials complete the city cleanup within 24 hours of Persib Bandung's victory celebrations. From Friday night until early Sunday morning, Bandung City Government officials continued to clean up the remains of the celebrations, especially trash from the convoy.
He also personally monitored the city's condition since early morning. However, Farhan acknowledged that Bandung's cleanliness has not yet fully recovered.
"If there are still residents complaining that the city isn't clean, we must understand that. Use that as motivation to speed up our work," he said.
According to Farhan, it will take more than a day to restore the city's condition after three nights of celebratory activities. Therefore, all regional and territorial agencies are being asked to act quickly and coordinated to ensure Bandung's function as the provincial capital returns to optimal operation.
Amidst the heavy workload, Farhan expressed his appreciation to all staff for their hard work over the past few days. He considered the officers' dedication a clear demonstration of the government's responsibility to maintain the safety of the city.
In addition to waste management, Farhan highlighted ongoing urban planning, including the regulation of street vendors (PKL). He stated that this process is being carried out in stages with the support of the West Java Provincial Government, while still considering the sustainability of small businesses.
Although they are not permitted to occupy permanent or semi-permanent locations in certain areas, street vendors are still given space to do business through a dismantling and installation system in permitted locations, with the obligation to maintain cleanliness after trading.
The Bandung City Government is also accelerating infrastructure improvements, which have been slowed over the past decade due to the pandemic. Farhan stated that Bandung's local revenue is currently recovering, but economic growth still needs to be boosted to catch up to previous achievements.
According to him, this condition is a shared challenge that needs to be addressed seriously, with ASN as the driving force of government.
On that occasion, Farhan also invited all ASN to emulate the spirit of dedication of employees who are entering retirement.
"This positive energy must spread throughout Bandung, starting at City Hall. That's our champion mentality," he said.
