PORTALJABAR, GARUT REGENCY - Garut Deputy Regent Putri Karlina officially opened the Cheap Food Fair (GPM) event organized by the Garut Regency Food Security Service (DKP) at the Bayongbong District Office Yard, Garut Regency, Tuesday (11/3/2025).
This activity aims to ensure that people get basic necessities at affordable prices and stabilize food prices in the market, especially during Ramadan.
In her speech, Putri Karlina appreciated the people who had come since morning to buy basic necessities at prices cheaper than the market.
He said that even though the price difference was not too big, this program was still beneficial for the community, so that it could help the community in accessing important staples such as rice, flour, sugar, and other staples.
This GPM ensures food stocks are available and prevents price speculation in the market. The government, Putri continued, subsidizes several thousand rupiah so that prices are cheaper than the market.
"So, you are not being lied to, and it is safe, the government is subsidizing a few thousand so that it can be cheaper than the market price," he said.
However, he emphasized that this program will not kill the market, but rather as a price stabilization measure. In addition, he also asked for public support so that the government can continue to present useful programs.
"Please pray that the Regent and I can create programs that will help the lives of all of you," he said.
