PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - Deputy Mayor of Bandung Erwin, went directly to the field to monitor the activities of street vendors (PKL) and ensure the cleanliness and order of the city ahead of Eid al-Fitr, Sunday (30/3/2025).
The monitoring started from Jalan Trunojoyo area. He reviewed each street vendor one by one and reminded them to stop operating at 22.00 WIB.
"We want to ensure that all street vendors comply with the operating hours until 10 p.m. This is important so that the trash can be collected immediately, and spraying can be done from 10 p.m. to around 1 a.m. The trash will then be sent to Sarimukti, which operates until 5 a.m. WIB," he said.
After Trunojoyo, Erwin continued to the Pusdai area. At each monitoring point, he also instructed the local sub-district heads and village heads to be on standby and actively socialize the rules to traders and local residents.
"We want all parties to understand that this policy is implemented for the sake of mutual convenience. By closing street vendors on time, we can maintain cleanliness and ensure Bandung remains orderly, especially when the flow of homecoming and tourists increases," he said.
Next, Erwin headed to the Monumen Perjuangan area. At this location, Erwin apologized to the public who were hunting for culinary, takjil, or clothes ahead of Eid for the limited operational hours of street vendors.
"We understand that many residents are looking for Eid necessities at night, but this rule is made to ensure the cleanliness of the city is maintained. We apologize for the inconvenience, but all street vendors must close at 22.00," he said.
After reviewing the Struggle Monument area, Erwin took the time to review the Cikapayang area.
The Bandung City Government (Pemkot) continues to strive to maintain a balance between residents' economic activities and city cleanliness, especially in the run-up to Eid al-Fitr which is synonymous with increased activity in public spaces.
