PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - Bandung Mayor Muhammad Farhan returned to carrying out government duties after being declared recovered from health problems and ready to continue the priority programs of the Bandung City Government (14/7/2026).

Farhan said that his health condition had declined due to a relapse of stomach ulcers after receiving the news of Rahmat Gobel's death.

"I feel a deep sense of loss for Mr. Rahmat Gobel. He has been my tutor since I graduated from college in 1996. I was close to him and his family. I also worked for him for quite a long time until 2018. We also joined the same party and became members of the House of Representatives," said Farhan.

Farhan admitted that the emotional pressure had an impact on his physical condition, requiring him to undergo treatment in hospital.

"His sudden passing was a huge blow to me. When I returned from Jakarta that Friday, I kept thinking about him until my ulcer recurred and my health deteriorated," he said.

Farhan is grateful that the quick medical treatment made his condition improve quickly.

"Thank God, I was immediately taken to the hospital. Perhaps God was asking me to rest for a few days," he said.

Farhan explained that the results of a thorough examination showed no serious health problems.

"To this day, I'm still being seen by a doctor. The results of the examination, including a head scan, heart scan, abdominal exam, and other tests, reveal only one disorder: obesity," he said.

The doctor advised Farhan to lose weight so that his blood sugar levels could be better controlled and his blood vessels could remain healthy.

"The doctor advised me to lose weight so that my blood sugar can be better controlled and my blood vessels remain healthy," he said.

Farhan confirmed that he had returned to duty since (13/7/2026) by reviewing the implementation of the School Environment Introduction Period and greeting the students.

"I have recovered. On Monday morning I went around reviewing the implementation of the School Environment Introduction Period (MPLS) and encouraging school children," he said.

Despite returning to work, Farhan continues to undergo health monitoring and follows the recommendations of the medical team.

"Yesterday I had a meeting at the Pendopo, but after each meeting my blood pressure was checked by a doctor. Working hours were also limited, until 5:00 PM WIB at the latest. After that, I was asked to rest," he said.

Farhan has also started exercising again as part of his recovery process.

"This morning I was allowed to return to the gym to exercise. Thank God, I have no complaints," he said.

Farhan hopes to continue overseeing the development agenda and public services after his health improves.

"Hopefully, this is only a temporary disruption. Bandung City's challenges and programs must continue. We have been preparing a lot of work since the beginning of the year, and we are now entering the implementation phase," he said.

Farhan expressed his gratitude to the community who had provided prayers and support during his recovery period.

"Thank you for the prayers from everyone. Thank God, I'm healthy again and ready to continue serving the people of Bandung," he concluded.
