PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - Bandung Mayor Muhammad Farhan ensured that city development is based on regional needs during a dialogue with residents at the 88th Disaster Alert Siskamling activity in Sekejati Village, Bandung City (04/08/2026).
Muhammad Farhan stated that development is no longer carried out with a uniform approach because each region has different problems.
"We don't want uniformity. Each region has different needs, so the approach must be based on data and real-world conditions," said Muhammad Farhan.
The city government uses regional data collected through the Community Units (Laci Rukun Warga) as a basis for determining development priorities.
This data serves as a reference in determining development programs and policy interventions according to field conditions.
Muhammad Farhan said that the Laci Rukun Warga data had gone through a verification process so that it could be accounted for in regional development planning.
"This data has been certified and can be accounted for. So, our policy direction is no longer based on assumptions, but on facts on the ground," said Farhan.
In the dialogue, residents conveyed a number of environmental issues such as flooding due to overflowing rivers, road conditions, drainage, and public street lighting.
Muhammad Farhan ensured that public reports would be verified by regional authorities to determine appropriate handling steps.
"We can't solve problems in pieces. We need to map them comprehensively, especially for issues like flooding that are related to the city's hydrological system," said Farhan.
Farhan reminded the importance of clarity on land status and the designation of public facilities so that development does not create new problems.
"Everything must be clear, both the land status and its intended use. This is crucial to prevent development from creating new problems in the future," said Farhan.
Farhan encouraged residents to continue providing data on environmental conditions so that city development can proceed according to community needs.
"City development cannot be solely the responsibility of the government. Citizen participation is essential, and it all starts with accurate data," said Farhan.
