PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The Bandung City Government is monitoring residents moving from Decile 5 to Decile 6 to ensure they do not lose social protection.

Bandung Mayor Muhammad Farhan said that this group is vulnerable to losing social assistance even though their economic condition is not yet fully independent, 24/8/2026.

According to Farhan, the Bandung City Government will closely monitor the implementation of decile-based policies to ensure they reflect the actual conditions of the community on the ground.

"Regarding Decile 9 and Decile 10, we, Bandung, are one of the cities with the best data, according to the Ministry of Social Affairs. We are already among the best," said Muhammad Farhan.

Farhan explained that Deciles 9 and 10 are groups of people who are considered capable and therefore face the consequences of reducing a number of subsidies.

The Bandung City Government will continue to monitor the conditions of residents in this group because welfare data does not necessarily fully reflect current economic conditions.

"For this reason, we will be very careful in the field regarding the implementation of the regulations for Decile 9 and Decile 10," he said.

However, Farhan places the transition from Decile 5 to Decile 6 as a major concern because the change in status could impact access to social assistance.

"For us in Bandung, the most vulnerable are those between Decile 5 and 6. Those in Decile 9 and 10 can't receive subsidies. Those in Decile 5 and 6 can't receive assistance. Yet, their position is far more vulnerable," said Muhammad Farhan.

The Bandung City Government will monitor residents down to the regional level to ensure that changes in decile status do not ignore the actual economic conditions of the community.

This monitoring can utilize the Siskamling Siap Jaga Bencana program as a means for residents to directly convey their conditions and needs.

"We are still implementing the Disaster Preparedness Neighborhood Security System (Siskamling Siap Jaga Bencana) to ensure that residents in each area can express their concerns, whether they are experiencing difficulties or are in good condition," he said.

Farhan believes direct monitoring is necessary for the government to obtain a factual picture when changes occur in the status of citizens' welfare data.

The Bandung City Government will also review data update mechanisms to ensure that changes in residents' economic conditions can be reported through available channels.

"If I'm not mistaken, there's a website for reporting on changes in the decile," he said.

Data accuracy is the basis for the Bandung City Government to ensure the accuracy of aid targets and ensure that vulnerable residents continue to receive social protection.

"Our focus is the transition from Decile 5 to Decile 6," he concluded.
