PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The Bandung City Government ensures that the implementation of the New Student Admissions System (SPMB) for the 2025/2026 academic year will run smoothly, transparently, and accountably.

This was conveyed by the Mayor of Bandung in the program "Siaran Bareng Pak Wali" which was broadcast on TVRI West Java.

According to him, this year's admission system still refers to the mechanism that has been implemented in previous years, with a number of technical adjustments.

"Especially in Bandung City, this system has not changed much because for a long time we have been using a mechanism that is now used as a national reference," he said.

One important adjustment is the use of the domicile radius as the basis for selection. For elementary school level, the domicile radius is a maximum of 1,000 meters from the school, while for junior high school level it is a maximum of 3,000 meters.

"This means that even though they are in different administrative areas, as long as the domicile distance is in accordance with the provisions, prospective students can still register," he explained.

The admission pathways include Domicile, Affirmation, Achievement, and Mutation. The quota for elementary school is divided into 80 percent domicile, 15 percent affirmation, and 5 percent mutation. Meanwhile, for junior high school, the allocation of the domicile pathway is 40 percent, affirmation 30 percent, achievement 25 percent, and mutation 5 percent.

To ensure the fairness and integrity of the process, the Bandung City Government is working together with the DPRD, Inspectorate, and law enforcement officers.

"We will carry out checks and balances together. All parties are involved so that there are no deviations," said the Mayor.

The affirmative pathway is divided into two categories: Vulnerable to Continuing Education (RMP) and Students with Special Needs (MBK). The RMP category includes students from underprivileged families registered in DTKS or DTSEN. While MBK requires an assessment and recommendation from the Disability Services Unit (ULD).

The Mayor also emphasized that the mutation pathway only applies to nuclear family transfers and must be registered before June 23, 2024.

All official information can be accessed via the spmb.bandung.go.id page and the Bandung City Education Office social media channels.

Registration will be conducted online on June 23–27, 2025. The Regional Standardized Test for the achievement pathway will be held on June 30–July 4, 2025, and the selection results will be announced on July 7, 2025.

The mayor appealed to parents to understand all stages and not to be fixated on the “superior” label.

"All public elementary and junior high schools in Bandung City have met quality standards. Let's be sure that all schools are ready to educate our children," he concluded. (Bandung City Communication and Information Service/Fau)
