PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The Bandung City Government is promoting the Scout Movement as a non-formal educational platform to shape a young generation with character.

The Bandung City Government (Pemkot) commemorated the 65th Scout Day and closed the 2026 Bandung Utama Scout Festival at the City Hall Plaza.

The ceremony was led by the Mayor of Bandung, Muhammad Farhan, as Chairman of the Bandung City Scout Movement Branch Advisory Council (Mabicab).

Farhan said the Scout Movement for 65 years has contributed to character building through discipline, independence, honesty, leadership, and love of the homeland.

"For 65 years, the Scout Movement has been present in Indonesia and has left a profound impact. It has become a vehicle for character development in Indonesia's young generation, instilling the values of discipline, independence, honesty, leadership, and love for the homeland," said Farhan.

A total of 10 outstanding Scout members received awards from the Bandung City Government and the Bandung City Branch Office (Kwarcab) for their dedication.

This award was given as appreciation to members who brought honor to the city of Bandung through various scouting activities.

"This award is a testament to the hard work, dedication, and devotion of the Scout Movement, which will always hold a place in our hearts," he said.

Farhan believes that Scouting is increasingly important amidst technological developments because it can equip young people with character and social skills.

He invited Scout members to apply the Dasa Darma in their daily lives to form individuals who are pious, patriotic, care about the environment, and like to do good.

"Bandung is a creative and educational city. We have both the opportunity and the challenge of nurturing a generation with character, competitiveness, and noble morals. This is where the Scout Movement plays a very strategic role," he said.

Farhan also expressed his appreciation to the Scout leaders and trainers who consistently assist the young generation of Bandung City through character education.

"I express my gratitude and appreciation to the Scout leaders and trainers who have demonstrated extraordinary dedication and devotion in developing the young generation of Bandung City," he said.

The closing ceremony of the 2026 Bandung Utama Scout Festival also provided a space for participants to build togetherness, character, creativity, and openness through fun activities.

Seeing the enthusiasm of the participants and the benefits of the activity, Farhan asked the Bandung City Kwarcab to hold the festival again in 2027.

"The Bandung Utama Scout Festival is more than just a competition. It's an effort to build togetherness, character, and openness in a joyful atmosphere. Therefore, I request that this event be held again in 2027," he said.

Farhan hopes that the 65th Scout Day commemoration will encourage more young people in Bandung to grow up strong, have character, and be patriotic.

"The future of the nation lies in the hands of a generation that is resilient, has character, and is patriotic. I am confident that the Scout Movement will be able to produce such individuals," he said.
