PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - Indonesian Vice President Ma'ruf Amin inaugurated the West Java Sharia Economic and Financial Regional Committee (KDEKS), in the West Hall of Gedung Sate, Bandung City, Tuesday (23/4/2024).

West Java KDEKS is chaired by the Acting Governor of West Java Bey Machmudin assisted by administrators from various circles.

In his direction, the Vice President asked the West Java KDEKS to immediately prepare an action plan for sharia economic development with measurable and sustainable targets.

The Vice President also wants the West Java KDEKS to synergize sharia economics in annual, medium-term and long-term development planning documents.

"Also prepare and develop sharia economic human resource capacity and inclusiveness through multi-party collaboration, including the world of education and the business world," he asked.

According to the Vice President, West Java has enormous sharia economic and financial potential in Indonesia.
Therefore, optimizing the development of the halal product industry through strengthening the halal value chain ecosystem in all leading sectors needs to continue.

The Vice President also said that the contribution of the sharia economic and financial sector to development in Indonesia had begun to increase, including in West Java, where from 2013-2023, there were 315 projects with a value of around IDR 17.8 trillion financed from State Sharia Securities.

For this reason, he asked for the successful implementation of these projects in the future to continue to be supported.
Apart from that, the West Java KDEKS also plays an important role in expanding sharia financial inclusion in regional development financing through the application of innovative sharia financial services and digital technology.

"West Java KDEKS must develop sharia business and entrepreneurship through optimizing the sharia business incubation program," said the Vice President.

He hopes that the presence of KDEKS will be beneficial for increasing the competitiveness and welfare of the people of West Java.

"Continue to promote and promote sharia economics and finance in Bumi Pasundan so that the benefits are felt by the community, especially in increasing competitiveness and prosperity," he hoped.

After being inaugurated, Bey Machmudin admitted that he was grateful that West Java now has a Sharia Economic and Financial Regional Committee.

This will strengthen collaboration and synergy between stakeholders in the development of sharia economics and finance.

Bey revealed that the total assets of Islamic banks in West Java in 2023 will reach IDR 843 trillion with a market share reaching 15 percent of the total assets of commercial banks.

"That's just from the banking sector," said Bey.

For the industrial sector, he continued, the export value of halal food and drinks will be 4.8 billion US dollars and halal medicines will be 243 million US dollars in 2023.

"The total collection of zakat, infaq and alms in West Java will reach IDR 6.5 trillion in 2023," said Bey.

No less interesting, currently there are four state universities and three private universities in West Java that have sharia finance and economics study programs with a total of 5,010 students.

"This is a reinforcement for improving and developing the quality of human resources," said Bey.
