PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - Acting Governor of West Java Bey Machmudin hopes that the implementation of the 2024 West Java Energy Forum (WJEF) can make West Java province a pioneer in presenting environmentally friendly and sustainable new and renewable energy (EBT) innovations.
This was stated by Bey Machmudin when opening the 2024 WJEF event at the Pullman Hotel, Bandung City, Thursday (11/21/2024).
Bey revealed in the forum that the West Java Provincial Government is committed to aligning green development to support Indonesia Emas 2045 and collaborating with stakeholders at regional, central and global levels.
"We are also preparing potential green projects that meet the criteria for technical and administrative readiness, so that we can accelerate the implementation of the energy transition in West Java," said Bey Machmudin.
With renewable energy potential reaching 192 GW, consisting of wind, water, geothermal, solar, biomass or biogas energy, according to Bey, West Java has a great opportunity to become a pioneer in the energy transition in Indonesia.
"We hope that West Java will be a pioneer in this energy situation because we have the potential and it should be able to become the biggest potential in the next few years," said Bey.
As a concrete step to develop renewable energy, WJES 2024 provides assistance to seven high schools/vocational schools for the construction of rooftop solar power plants (PLTS). Bey said the purpose of the rooftop PLTS is to reduce the burden of school operational costs.
"There are only seven schools, the potential is very good, they themselves said earlier that reducing operational costs, including paying for electricity and so on, also adds and certainly increases the knowledge of their students that it can really be used and reduce operational costs," explained Bey.
Rooftop solar power plants in schools are also expected to attract investors to invest in West Java with the aim of building a friendly and sustainable environment in the future.
"Of course, with the presence of this rooftop PLTS, we hope that there will be companies that are willing to contribute CSR. This is very good, it can reduce pollution," said Bey.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of the West Java DPRD, Buky Wibawa, welcomed the implementation of rooftop PLTS which will be implemented in seven schools. The DPRD supports it from the policy and supervision side, because it is hoped that West Java will become a pioneer province in the EBT sector.
"The DPRD welcomes the EBT program, and we need to support it from the budget policy and supervision side later," he said.
The amount of costs that must be incurred in building rooftop PLTS at vocational schools/high schools starts from IDR 700 million to IDR 1 billion.
Here are seven schools that received assistance for rooftop PLTSA:
1. State Senior High School 1 Cianjur
2. State Vocational School 2 Bogor
3. State Vocational School 1 Purwakarta
4. State Vocational School 1 Cimahi
5. State Vocational School 1 Garut
6. State Vocational School 2 Tasikmalaya
