PORTALJABAR, BOGOR CITY - As many as 500 runners from various communities in Bogor gathered at the DedraRun event held at Taman Ekspresi, Bogor City, Sunday (20/4/2025).
Bogor Mayor Dedie A. Rachim said that DedraRun is used to unite all runners in Bogor.
"So this is a means to really run together, strengthening our commitment to continue making Bogor a City of Runners. Hopefully, the togetherness and friendship between runners will also strengthen our love for the City of Bogor," he said.
From this event, he saw a lot of potential for a new generation of runners to grow and develop along with the increasing city infrastructure that supports running activities in the city of Bogor.
This running event was also attended by the Deputy Minister of Home Affairs (Wamendagri) Bima Arya, who participated in the fun run with a route around Sempur Field, Sempur Bridge Alley, and around SSA.
Bima Arya appreciates the Mayor of Bogor for his desire and development of various sports, including running.
"Mr. Dedie has nurtured the runner ecosystem and encouraged various events and improvements to facilities in Bogor, not only for the economy, but also for health, education, and welfare. Because the City of Runners is indeed a sport tourism concept, and I continue to support the Mayor's steps, not only in the field of sports, but also all programs in the City of Bogor," he said.
The DedraRun committee, Mang Riki, as he is familiarly called, who is also a representative of the Berlima Community as the event organizer, said that this activity was attended by around 500 runners from Bogor.
"The important goal is that we gather to foster friendship between running communities and also with the city government, so that we have a sense of togetherness through running," he said.
Nearby, Bogor City is expected to become a sports tourism destination that will have an impact on the MSME sector, increasing hotel occupancy, and other sectors.
Mang Riki added that he had discussed several times with the Mayor of Bogor to embrace all groups, communities, and all age groups, especially young people, to have a healthy lifestyle routine by moving.
"So it's not just running, there are also gymnastics, yoga, and so on. We are conceptualizing it. That way, Bogor towards sports tourism will be closer," he said. (Bogor City Communication and Information Service/UPI)
