PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The Bandung City Government (Pemkot) held an open house for Eid al-Fitr 1446 H at the Pendopo of Bandung City with a different atmosphere from previous years.

This simple event was attended by the Mayor of Bandung Muhammad Farhan, Deputy Mayor of Bandung Erwin, Acting Regional Secretary of Bandung City Iskandar Zulkarnain, and Bandung City Government officials.

On the sidelines of the open house, Bandung Mayor Muhammad Farhan stated that the pendopo is now a public house open to the public.

"Now we are holding a simple open house. We made the Pendopo with a slightly different feel," he said, Monday (31/3/2025)

Farhan also said that a special moment in this event was the re-sounding of the degung in the pendopo after more than 10 years. The degung was made in 1912 and was last played about a decade ago.

"After two weeks of repairs, this traditional Sundanese instrument is finally playing again, adding a sacred impression to the Eid al-Fitr gathering," he said.

On that occasion, Farhan also said that people from various regions came to the pendopo.

This is in line with his vision of making the pendopo an open space for Bandung residents, not just as the official residence of the mayor.

"We deliberately opened this pendopo to the public because we want to make it a public house, not just a private house. There will be many public activities here, including an exhibition space for the works of the best cultural figures and artists in Bandung City," he said.

Apart from being a means of socializing, this open house is also a moment for Farhan to communicate directly with the ranks of the Bandung City Regional Apparatus (PD).

Farhan reminded of the importance of PD's readiness in receiving public complaints, especially regarding infrastructure, waste management, and city security.

In addition, Farhan also revealed that Bandung City is not only a homecoming destination, but also a tourist destination.

In more detail, he said that around 150,000 Bandung residents returned to their hometowns, while 200,000 travelers from Bandung returned to the city. In addition, during the period of D+1 to D+7 of Lebaran, the city of Bandung is predicted to receive almost 1 million tourists.

"We are preparing to receive almost 1 million tourists who will come to Bandung City. So, Bandung residents must be ready to be good hosts," he said.

Farhan hopes that all travelers can travel safely and comfortably.

The Bandung City Government, continued Farhan, will continue to strive to maintain the security and comfort of the city for its citizens and visiting tourists.

"Hopefully all travelers on this homecoming trip can arrive safely at their destination and return safely too. We from the Bandung City Government will maintain the security and comfort of the city as best as possible," he said.
