Bekasi District Government Appreciates PT GRP's Steel Exports Reaching US$87 Million

PORTALJABAR, BEKASI REGENCY - Acting Regent of Bekasi Dedy Supriyadi appreciated PT. Gunung Raja Paksi (GRP) Tbk for its success in increasing domestic production and national economic growth, in the last three years the accumulation of steel exports abroad reached 87 million US$.

"We are proud of the achievements of PT GRP which continues to show great potential and real contribution to national economic growth and improving the trade balance. Today, PT Gunung Raja Paksi Tbk exported 1,200 metric tons of Welded Beam steel to New Zealand," he said in his remarks at the release of steel exports, Wednesday (15/1/2025).

Dedy explained, through non-oil and gas products, the steel production of PT. GRP is considered to have contributed greatly to the growth of the industry. As well as a success of the company located in Bekasi Regency, in this case the export of Welded Beam steel to New Zealand.

"The Bekasi Regency Government is proud of the products produced by PT GRP, which has great potential in exporting steel to various regions to improve the trade balance," he said.

According to him, the steel products produced by PT. Gunung Raja Paksi Tbk, are able to compete with the global market. The company's success in exporting steel abroad can spur the spirit of the business world in Bekasi Regency to be able to penetrate the export market.

"The success achieved by PT. GRP can be an inspiration for all other industrial business players to continue to innovate that is oriented towards the global market, to boost economic growth and contribute to domestic products," he said.

On the same occasion, Indonesian Minister of Trade Budi Santoso said in the release of Welded Beam steel exports to New Zealand, the products produced by PT. Gunung Raja Paksi Tbk, amounting to 1,200 metric tons with a value of 1.5 million dollars.

"Our steel exports to New Zealand utilize the ASEAN Australia New Zealand FTA, so that they are not subject to 0 percent import duties, making it easier for us to compete with steel products from other countries," he said.

New Zealand currently has large-scale projects such as bridge and airport construction. So Indonesia has the opportunity to supply steel needs to New Zealand.

"We encourage other industrial business players to also improve the quality of their products so that they enter the export market, and compete healthily with other countries, the Ministry of Trade targets non-oil and gas product exports to increase by 7.1 percent," he said.
